Looking both ways ...

One cannot help but notice that 2012 has been a demanding year for Lansdowne church and its people  and for the Presbytery of Glasgow to which we belong.

These are times of profound social and cultural change and the role and place of faith, and the Christian faith in particular are hot topics. We have experienced sometimes bitter internal conflicts over ethical matters, Scriptural interpretation and the likes of Presbytery planning. We are aware that in public discourse, faith is often presented as the problem rather than the cure.

So, thanks and appreciation are due to all the people who step up to the plate  - be it to worship in Lansdowne, to serve people there or to keep the 'show on the road'. Both the people and the building are vulnerable. Perhaps that is the best place to be, if we are to grasp what the Christmas story is about?

Now, for 2013...
