Graham Maule has been in touch about the event 'Disagreeing Agreeably' (... on the sexuality debate) with Pádraig Ó Tuama of which the blurb says:
Much of the public disagreement around sexuality, gay marriage, and LGBT lives and stories has been notable for the antagonistic and rancorous tones in which it has been conducted. If this has been the case in secular circles, in church circles it has been even more pronounced...
This meeting will reflect on the tactics and approaches of a project hosted by the Corrymeela Community in Northern Ireland and with which Pádraig was involved. It sought to explore the possibility of bringing people together, who disagree profoundly on this topic... and while they might remain apart on this issue, to nevertheless allow significant degrees of respectful and agreeable regard to be achieved.
The unpacking of such insights offer an opportunity to discern useful lessons for the current Scottish situation. Tea & coffee will be provided.
